Turn a work group chat into meeting notes and weekly reports

Teams that work over KakaoTalk end up with meetings, decisions and instructions scattered across the group chat. Later it is hard to find who agreed to do what, and nobody writes minutes. This article covers two setups: one for meeting notes and one for a weekly report.

Meeting notes: cut out only the meeting time

If the meeting happened in the chat, feeding only the messages from that time is the most accurate. Small talk or other topics before and after can make the AI record the wrong things as decisions.

TalkCut's date range has a start time and end time next to each date. If you met in the chat on Tuesday from 14:00 to 15:30, set both dates to that Tuesday and the times to 14:00 and 15:30. Dates are listed with their weekday, so "last Tuesday" is easy to find.

The time range works as one continuous span. If the start and end dates differ, the first day counts from the start time, the last day up to the end time, and the days in between are included in full.

Reshape the prompt into meeting notes

Choose Detailed. Its default instructions already ask for conclusions and follow-up action items. Add the request below to the end of the prompt on the result screen and you get notes you can share as is.

Example lines to add
Reformat this as meeting notes.
1. Decisions — include who decided
2. To-dos — owner / task / due date ("TBD" if no date was mentioned)
3. Open issues — discussions that ended without a conclusion
Do not fill in anything that is not in the chat.

Weekly report: a whole week at once

For a weekly report, set the range from this Monday to Friday. Pick the Monday and Friday using the weekday shown next to each date. Leave the times at the default (00:00 to 23:59) to include full days.

Moderate works well here. It splits by date and groups by topic within each day, so you can copy it straight into a report as "Mon: discussed X, Wed: confirmed Y".

When you only need certain people

Selecting only some speakers extracts only their messages, and the prompt automatically asks the AI to focus on them. This is handy for collecting a manager's instructions or a client contact's comments about your task.

Other people's questions and replies drop out, though, so it can become unclear what a message was answering. For meeting notes, where decisions must be accurate, select everyone.

Before putting work chats into an AI

TalkCut processes your file only in the browser and never sends it to a server. But once you paste the extracted text into an AI service such as ChatGPT, that service's data policy applies.

If your company has guidelines on generative AI, check them first. If the chat includes sensitive details like customer data or contract amounts, narrow the date range and speakers, or open the .txt file downloaded from the result screen and delete those lines before giving it to the AI.
